NEW IBERIA ''' A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Richard Joseph Pellerin, Sr., age 70, at 3:00 pm Monday, March 30, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Men's Rosary Group leading the Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 10:00 am until 2:30...

Richard was born April 3, 1944 in New Iberia to the late Alfan Pellerin and Lillie Mae Segura Pellerin, and was one of five children. On Saturday, March 28, 2015, Mr. Richard passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his wife and family at his side.

Richard was retired from Akzo (Cargil Salt) at Avery Island with over 37 years of service and was a production foreman. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life and found great joy in his work and hobbies. He enjoyed tending to his yard and garden and carpentry work. He always said that he was a jack of all trades and a master of none. He leaves behind many fond memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Gayle Thibodeaux Pellerin of New Iberia; his five children, Richard J. Pellerin, Jr. and wife Sheila of New Iberia, Dusty Pellerin of Arnaudville, Melanie Pellerin of New Iberia, Ashley Pellerin Trim and husband Brennan of St. Martinville, and Corey J. Pellerin of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Logan, Taylor, Sierra and Serick Pellerin, Jaxon Livingston, and Tristan and Scarlett Trim; and his brother and sisters, Gerald Pellerin and wife Gerri of New Iberia, Laura Pellerin of New Iberia, Barbara Pellerin of Berwick, and Beverly Penton and husband Irvin of Coteau.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard, Dusty, Corey, Logan, Taylor and Serick Pellerin, Jaxon Livingston and Tristan Trim. Honorary pallbearers are J.B. Joseph, Darrell Bourgeois, Harold Landry, Aden Keeter, Mitch Migues, Mike Landry and Bud Ducote.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Mr. Pellerin's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
